Many people suffer from skin conditions and over fifty percent of people suffer from some kind of skin condition at some point in their life. There are many different types of skin conditions, some of a temporary nature and often easily diagnosed and treated but some can be long term, difficult to diagnose properly and possibly life changing. Often it can be the luck of the draw as to whether you get a skin condition and the nature of it and how soon it can be diagnosed and treated.

A number of skin conditions can be put down to something as simple as an allergic or contact reaction to a substance of irritant that the skin has come into contact with. Most commonly this will show itself as a red and itchy irritation on the skin which has most likely come about by the skin being subjected to a substance that has stripped it of its natural oils and balance of natural flora (standard non-harmful bacteria found on all skin). This causes the skin to become dry and flaky, a key example of this is too much use of strong detergents for hand washing.
